A favourite with us, such friendly staff and lovely locals. You know it’s a good pub when locals want to be there. You can stop for a refreshing drink or eat in/collect a takeaway. In the heart of Ley Nature Reserve is the absolutely ‘must visit’ Stokeley Farm Shop, with everything you would expect from a ‘top dollar’ country farm shop. A great place to stock up on all your groceries, whilst also supporting local producers and the local economy. There is a deli, butchery, a restaurant café plant centre and gift shop. In season you can pick your own strawberries too.

 

Are you a pizza lover? They have a wood fired pizza oven serving up crispy based pizzas, with a good choice of of tasty toppings.

Whilst staying at Carlane Court. we couldn’t not recommend a lunch/dinner at The Cricket Inn. it’s not far away and right on the beach at Beesands. When you are here on a clear sunny day… you really could be anywhere in the world.

In summer they open the sliding doors to outside seating where you can dine alfresco overlooking the sea – just metres away. The view is glorious!

With stunning views over The Dart

Serving sublime food, with superb service, we focus on locally sourced fresh ingredients which are prepared by our Head Chef Elly Wentworth and her team. Elly is extremely proud of her signature 6-course taster menu, as well as the expertly curated wine list.

The restaurant is in a listed building, dating back to 1889, now with a beautifully decorated interior, in cool and calming tones. We are passionate about ensuring every diner leaves us feeling special.

Every aspect of your experience is carefully considered: from commissioning bespoke crockery, to producing dishes of the highest quality to serving locally hand-made chocolates with your coffee.

We are open from dinner Wednesdays through to Sunday lunch, and our Tasting Menu is available every lunchtime and evening on request, and exclusively on Saturday nights.

MITCHELIN Guide’s review  ‘This tastefully restored Georgian country house sits in peaceful grounds which stretch down to the estuary and its pretty veranda is the perfect spot to admire the view. 

Its elegant restaurant looks out over the Exe Estuary and Lyme Bay. The airy Berry Head room offers views over the headland and is a great place for lunch, while the Powderham room is ideal for cosying up in the intimate booths in the evening.

Sophisticated cooking is well-balanced and boldly flavoured and while it has classical undertones, presentation is modern and elaborate. The 8 course ‘Signature’ tasting menu best demonstrates the team’s abilities or there’s the ‘Estuary’ option for pescatarians’.
